From coverage details to out-of-pocket options, we guide you every step of the way, ensuring you make informed decisions for your hearing health.
Does Insurance Cover Hearing Aids?
Some insurance plans include partial or full coverage for hearing aids, while others do not. Coverage depends on your plan type, policy details, and network rules. In many cases, hearing benefits are administered by a Hearing Benefits Administrator (HBA) that partners with credentialed providers such as Hear Florida. For more detailed information on hearing aid benefits, coverages, and out-of-pocket costs, please continue reading each section of this page.
Does Insurance Cover Hearing Evaluations?
Coverage for hearing evaluations varies by insurance plan and policy. Regardless of insurance, Hear Florida offers a complimentary in-office hearing evaluation to all patients. For mobile visits (e.g., in-home, in-factiliy) we will verify any benefits you may have and outline your costs—if any—before your appointment.
Medicare and Medicaid Coverage
Original Medicare (Parts A and B) generally does not cover hearing aids. Many Medicare Advantage (Part C) plans include hearing benefits (often administered by a Hearing Benefits Administrator). Medicaid coverage varies by state. In Florida, Medicaid covers hearing aids for eligible adults and children who meet medical-necessity criteria. Hear Florida will confirm your eligibility, copays, and any prior-authorization requirements up front.

What is a Hearing Benefits Administrator (HBA)?
A Hearing Benefits Administrator is a company that manages hearing care benefits on behalf of health plans, employers, or unions. HBAs act as third-party administrators (TPAs) to simplify access to hearing services for members and to streamline administration for the plan.
How They Operate
- Third-party administration: independent of the health plan; focused on hearing benefits.
- Benefit simplification: streamline the steps to use hearing coverage.
- Cost management: leverage scale (e.g., bulk purchasing) to reduce costs for plans and members.
Bottom line: Your insurance plan provides coverage; the HBA administers how those hearing benefits are delivered. Hear Florida works with your HBA to make it easy.
